Board Chair Meet the Team Kelly Yee Research Specialist / Data Management Every Saturday, "pantry day," I look forward to greeting and serving the familiar and the new faces of our neighbors from all over Greater Dallas. As a VISTA research specialist, I produce data reports on our organization's effectiveness and provide a foundation for new partnerships to better serve our community. My goal on an interpersonal level is to honor our neighbors while improving our resources and referrals so they can boost their own family's health and nutrition status. I LOVE this work. Ayumi Tamaru Communications & Development Coordinator ETM is helping not only the community. They care about the staff and their families also. I love how they welcome my family when we go to the food pantry volunteer, events, and any activities. Especially for children who learn through a volunteer experience at an early age. Every time I attend the ETM graduation, I see they are growing and more people are joining. I'm excited to see how much more they grow and see the smiles in the community. I enjoy being part of this organization to help with these processes. Alyson Whitefield Impact Tracker, Strategic Issues Manager VISTA It is an honor and privilege to serve with such a fantastic team and an inspiring leader and mentor. I can help others learn to advocate for themselves and their future. I can share my passion for lifelong learning and education while helping our community members learn new skills to better their future for themselves and their families. My favorite thing about Empowering the Masses is the pure heart behind our mission and the passionate team members I serve alongside. Lennox Cooper Pantry Coordinator As the Food Pantry Coordinator Mr. Cooper helps oversee the daily operations of the food pantry, including but not limited to, restocking of food pantry items, organizing, scheduling, and receiving pick-ups and deliveries, quality control, and collaborating with a team of food pantry volunteers. Annette King Volunteer Coordinator/ Corporate Volunteer Strategist One of the reasons I was happy to understand that my little bit of service would be able to help others. I really enjoy interacting with our volunteers and assisting them with how to volunteer with us. My favorite moment will be when we had a vaccination drive I was a little afraid to get a flu shot. Mrs.Gwen spoke so kindly to me help me to understand why I needed the shot. Erica Scott Student Success Coach/ Student Resource Coordinator I like to give back to something that inspires me! Not only am I helping someone, but also building meaningful relationships and strengthening our community. That provides me with life satisfaction and fulfillment. I enjoy working with a team that has common values and goals. Olivia Stribling Digital Marketing Specialist I love to serve with Empowering The Masses because it allows me to use my gifts to help further the vision and work alongside the team to spread awareness of the amazing things ETM is doing to love on our neighbors and create a real impact that empowers our community. Walter Isler Pantry Coordinator I serve at ETM because I enjoy helping people who are in need. I like helping to serve the community. Ebonie Rodriguez Social Media Management My favorite memory is joining Empowering the Masses. It brings me joy to be a part of something so grand and excelling to others that teaches that education plus advocacy equals empowerment one person at a time. Jasmine Haynes Program Coordinator I love serving with Empowering the Masses because I have witnessed the organization's impact on the community. One of my most memorable moments was reaching out to former students and one student telling her testimony of how the training programs positively impacted her life. She was almost in tears sharing her experience of how the program allowed her to earn a livable wage and be more present for her daughter. The impact makes what I do worth it. Meet the Interns Lindsey Bishop I am a graduate student in the MSW program at UT Arlington. I am excited to be partnered with Empowering The Masses. I like what this organization stands for and how it meets the community's needs by helping to fill the resource gap. I am intrigued by its multifaceted approach that goes beyond the short-term needs such as the weekly food pantry where I am currently serving, as well as the soft skills training that promote sustainability and self-efficiency for community members. I am interested in learning more about how to grow a small non-profit through asset mapping and how to turn ideas into action. Carolyn Okonkwo I’m honored to be an intern for Empowering The Masses. I’m eager to learn and assist in serving my community. Our neighbors in Dallas, Texas carry so much greatness and my hope is to be apart the impact to see that greatness flourish. Whether it be through the resources and classes provided by ETM, or seeing someones day illuminate from goods being distributed every week , every opportunity to be useful for my community makes a difference.
